BJ's team members always work together and get things done while finding a way to make the job fun. Balancing a work and life balance can be challenging as working in a restaurant requires you to work long hours.

Always busy but not always worth it

It was fun for a while, the tips made it tolerable. But certain female managers made it unbearable. Tips and hours are inconsistent and they say we’re a “team” but make you feel dumb or like you’re being an inconvenience if you ask for help.

Only 1 break, transitions are hard sometimes, the time you leave heavily depends on the next person to come in, no set hours.

Fun workplace, learned a lot

Loved working there, made good money when we were busy. Could get hectic if staffing is not 100%. Managers did their best to help. Menu was easy to understand. Bjs always had snacks or something as incentive for working hard.

Great place to work

The part that is best for me is that the bosses care of about me and their are opportunities for me to care about my team in the same way. The opportunity for growth is amazing too. Going to double in size soon.

fun environment

Money good. Management shady.If you work hard everyday you should be fine. Be a team player .. flip your tables don’t BS @ you should be good . Money to be made

Horrible management

They are a company that takes advantage of you no vacation paid time , no paid sick timeto much side work , and no appreciation for your hard work and dedication

Excellent place to work

Love working here. Excellent place to work. Very fair and balanced schedule. Management is very good. Food is awesome. Culture is great. Hardest part of the job is serving is tough

Awful!

Management was absolutely awful. Completely overwhelmed its staff. Showed no empathy towards its employees. Almost everyone I worked with joked about leaving then inevitably quit. Oh and if your anything than a server, you're not going to make what you deserve. Maybe my location was a bad one but I honestly don't recommend anyone ever work here.

get to meet great people throughout the way.

There's always room for improvement at this place, some days will be better than others but that's just like any other regular job but you can also work your way up in these type of industries.

Bad management

Terrible management at the location I worked at. Corporate does nothing to help with the bad management. Will slander your name behind your back. Don’t ever get sick or have health issue, everyone will know and management thinks you are lying even with an excused doctors note.

GREAT just found better job would late hours I didn't have a car n didn't like walking home alot at nite hours

I like the job I just didn't have a car n would walk home real late it wasn't safe for me And I like growing as a person but pay wasn't as good as they promised

Engaged, collaborative culture

Great people to work with. Collaborative and fun culture where people are passionate about building a great restaurant brand and taking care of their employees. I love that BJ's is passionate about inclusion and diversity. I really feel like they care to make sure everyone feels like they have a place here. They encourage you to give back to the community and support you in doing so. I feel like I am encourage to be my best self both professionally and personally.

Management

At this time, the management isn’t as supportive of the staff as when I started. We’ve lost 4 managers in 3 months….and those are the ones that cared about and helped the staff be successful. We are without enough staffing so that every day is incredibly stressful. I had to have the hostess stop seating me so I could help get food out to all of the guests, which expedited my food for my guests. We regularly run out of enough silverware while in the middle of dinner rush. It’s literally the most stressful and hardest place I’ve ever worked in my lifetime of years in the restaurant business.

You will never promote

Dishonest employees the managers except one lady she worked her best for that company. I never got full time hours. Seniority runs well in this place. Good co workers. Bad management.

Great place to work

I loved working at bjs. The best part was getting to work at takeout and as a food runner. The managers were always super friendly and I had a clear sense of purpose while working here

Good company to work for in this type of industry

My personal experience working for Bjs has been awesome for the most post. All bartending and serving jobs come with occasional stress. However, the management has been very helpful, caring and overall great. Bjs is a good company to stand behind. Good quality food and drinks. The beer is amazing and sells itself! BJS Culver City is awesome when it comes to job/life balance. When it comes to scheduling, management is understanding. If you are a good team player you will get the best shift. I recommended working for BJS.

Nice job for a high schooler

Overall this was my first experience with working with a restaurant. I’ve got to say the turn over rate must be so high due to the fact the training is poor. There’s no real structure, the pay is poor. The hours are horrible. The servers are rude and there’s a handful of them who feel they run the show. I do not like negative energy, people will get frustrated with new workers as if they know exactly what to do when they’ve been poorly trained. It’s a very clicky atmosphere, host with host, servers with servers.

Literally the worst serving job I’ve had

This is specifically a review for Concord, ca BJs. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had being a server and I was only there for a couple months. The clientele you get at this BJs is absolutely horrendous. It is flat out ghetto. It was always a 50% chance I was going to get a $0 tip and within the tons of serving jobs I’ve had, this is the one that still gives me nightmares. Making $100 a night or a little more was a EXTREMELY good night but would usually range from $50-90 and that was strictly from the amount of large parties that do come in. The management was actually pretty good at this location and I felt supported, coworkers were pretty supported and friendly too I guess, except this location so many servers come and go, no one really cares to take the time to ask your name or get to know you. It’s really the clientele at this location that ruined it for me, and if you work here and you’re not used to trashy people that don’t respect you or your time and will ask the most and leave you $0- a dollar or two, you will dread this location. I’ve been a server for years and I’m extremely friendly and personable and have always left any shift at any other serving job with well over what I did on the best nights here, and have always (and still do) very much enjoyed serving up until this short gig. Had to take the time months later to write this because if you’re someone with self respect that wants to serve at a place where guest value you, I highly recommend you skip this location and not make the same mistake i and many others did

Bjs is a good work place if your able to handle going fast and multitasking, no matter the position you apply for. Management is easy going and does care for you. Easy to get time off, flexible availability, and team member meals
