It's alright

Takes a while to actually become a server.You have to take other positions as well. Like running food or handling to go orders.Most of the managers are cool but they are leaving. The general manager is difficult to work with and constantly overreacting to small issues. He will complain if your shirt has white or clear buttons.Some of the staff act very immature, anger, and don't know how to do their jobs. They go without getting fired but it's been mentioned to the general manager. The pay is alright depending on what you do for the day. It's a decent job. I don't hate it.Some of the employees are really easy to get along with and are very kind. Three of the current managers are very understanding and nice. There are some pros.

Good Restaurant in good location

Nice Tex-Mex Restaurant with basic company culture. Menu is easy enough to learn and food is popular with guests. If you do stay with the company for an extended time, there are opportunities for advancement.

Coworkers made it worth it

I really enjoyed my time here, management is good for the most part and i loved all my coworkers. hours are flexible and to be honest the job is very easy.

It’s okay

Management is good for the most part, they let cooks take home food, “how it should be at all restaurants”. They expect a lot from you, usually working more than one position at the same time. Have lots of options for moving up quickly. Great place if you like restaurant hospitality. Good culture for the most part.

Run for your life

Working here was really good at first. But then there was a change in management and everything started going downhill. New gm would rather run up labor than cut people when it’s slow. So you’re barely making money. The tip share is insane!!! 5% for what??? The host don’t do anything and the bussers don’t even clean tables. Kitchen is always a mess.

The tips can be great if you can manage multiple tables at once

Uncle Julios require a lot from their servers, full in-depth knowledge of the menu for starters, but once you master these skills your earning potential increases.

Managers are awful

Management isn’t great , you don’t get support, 50% off meals on shift , wasn’t a great experience for me. I’ll say I hope they hire better managers.

Fun workplace with good co workers

Worked full time here for 5 months, loved working there while i was there but the pay was not good. They tell you that your starting pay is $12 + tip share, but it’s actually $10 + tip share because they have you on training pay until you say something or ask for a raise. Very untrustworthy and shady when it comes to pay. There is no training, usually they give you someone to show you around the place and then you’re on your own after that. Was very hard to move up. If you want to work here and have decent pay be a cook, server or a bartender. Also, you will see new faces all the time, people come and go.

Fun worked place

Nice place to work the people is fantastic manager employees every day is a challenge to learn more the problem is went the CEO stops the are no happy for anything they all ways change anything even went the toll you how the want.

Typical Server job

This was my first ever server job and I am glad I had the experience at Uncle Julios. They put a lot into training new servers and its easy to make friends with coworkers. Other then that, its just a basic server job, nothing crazy.

Do not work here

$1500 a month in tip share out of your hard worked pockets; To people who do not bus your tables, make drinks or competently make your food. I loose more money to kitchen mess ups than my own mess ups. Do not work here.

Stressful, but worth the money

Uncle Julio's is a great place to advance your career, if you are looking to grow in the restaurant industry. They do a ton of internal promotions, instead of hiring outsiders. Good place to grow.

Avoid if you can

I would highly recommend not working here. Management is a terrible joke. The pay is laughable. Don’t be to reliable because they just use you. The managers will have you do a boat load of work and still expect you to have your own worked done too. I wish I could give this job a lower rating because it deserves it.

Management is lacking

They have an extremely high turnover rate here for a reason. Management gossips a lot among associates and plays favorites for who is sat. If you are not running around between a lot of tables they see you as lacking. The coworkers make it nice there but the turnover is so high you won’t be working with the same group of people long. Hours are cut as retaliation if you miss work for being sick. You need to be tough and like kissing up if you wish to work here.

Good management and culture but can be very exhausting

I will be upfront: working at Uncle Julio’s is a double edged sword. Speaking from at least working as a server in one location, the managers there do a good job at making the experience worthwhile (and are forgiving and helpful) and the pay is pretty decent but it is a fairly demanding and exhausting company to work for. There is a lot of sensory overload from the music and very crammed seating areas, scorching hot plates that are a pain to carry, and an inability to sustain the capacity that it gets on very busy days (constantly being understocked with items at a given time making it stressful to satisfy customer needs). I recommend working here if you want some customer service experience and you want a challenge, and they do train you if you don’t have experience in food (like me), but I would not stay for more than a year if you aren’t committed to the food industry as a career.

Easy Money but bad management

You will be given the opportunity to make 150+ per night you work, but it will come at the cost of bad management. The GM will request you to work on your unavailable days, and he will not have your back when it comes to bad reviews or upset guests. The lower level managers will almost make up for the level of disapproval you will receive from the GM every shift. High turnover rate because of how customers will pick you apart every day and the management holding that over your head at the beginning of the shifts. If you plan to be perfect or you have the thickest skin, definitely work here. You'll make the money but you'll live in fear of losing your job because of how often management fires without warning. This makes moral super low, everyone talks about how much they hate the job/ management, which is understandable but it definitely ruins your mood every shift.

Fast Pace environment

A typical work day is just providing the best costumer service and fliping tables fasts. Depending on the day and time, it can become quite challenging handling many tables at once while still providing great service. Over time you learn how to multitask multiple things at once while completing the job in a timely manner if you're new to serving.

Incompetent kitchen, petulant manager, and dirty everything

About 30-80% of the plates, cups, and silverware that come out of dish are dirty. One of the managers will hound you for little mistakes even if they're not your fault, but do nothing about all the dirty stuff which makes the job harder.Bussers barely ever refill the chips and salsa so you frequently have to do it yourself, which takes even more time. It also takes extra time because the restaurant is tightly-packed to maximize the amount of tables and minimize the amount of room for the servers to move.Bar gets backed up a lot and tickets get lost too frequently so the bar has to be reminded. But it's almost always technical difficulties.Checks are closed on portable devices which are too few in number and run glitchy software which sometimes doesn't load or takes too long to load, and sometimes logs itself out, which destroys all of the convenience they're supposed to create.If there are large parties and/or large carryout orders, the kitchen slows to a snail's pace. Food that can take 5 minutes can take 40+ minutes. And sometimes even if the restaurant is nearly empty, the kitchen is still slow. And they'll mess up orders and put out cold food. Food runners will miss tortillas a lot of the time with the fajitas.And a lot of the time there aren't even enough tortillas to go around so servers have to remind people to make more tortillas and then wait for them at the expense of service for their other tables. But then managers have the audacity to complain at servers for taking 5 minutes to greet a table.One time a well done carne asada was messed up THREE TIMES. -

Productive and fun workplace

A typical day of work was not too busy during the day, but will get very stressful during the evening when it is dinner time. I always felt heard as an employee and appreciated.
