HEAD OF PROGRAMS- Full Time
"The Home Project" (THP), a civil non-profit company, was founded in December 2016 to meet the needs of refugee children who arrive in Greece on their own. It has created and operates shelters for unaccompanied minors in Athens, where holistic child protection services are provided.
The project is expected to operate with the co-financing of the European Union from the Greece Programme - Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and is expected to last 12 months.
The aim of the project is the operation of Structures in which services will be offered covering the whole range of protection needs of minors, such as food, housing, education, as well as material, psychosocial, medical and legal support, and social integration services. The main guidelines for the services provided relate to the safety and protection of minors, the development of the individual's personality, his or her maturation so that he or she is able to exercise his or her rights in an informed manner and, ultimately, his or her emancipation.
In this context, "The Home Project" announces a full-time Head of Programs. The selected person will be employed on a 3 month contract with a posiblity of renewal after evaluation. The employee will work on fixed hours, 5 days during the week at the organization's headquarters.
Overview
The Head of Programs plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing THP organization’s various programs and initiatives. This crucial senior management role significantly impacts the organization’s strategic objectives and serves as a liaison between THP and external stakeholders, including donors, partner organizations, government entities and beneficiaries. The Head of Program ensures that all programs are effectively designed, implemented and monitored to meet the needs of the target populations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Program Development & Monitoring:
- Acts as a strategic partner to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Development Officer (CDO) and senior leadership providing insights and recommendations to align existing and new programs with long term strategic objectives
- Identifies needs within target populations and designs effective strategies to address those needs
- Monitors public and private funds ensuring financial accountability and tracking the availability of resources for the program implementation
- Oversees Asylum Migration Integration Fund (AMIF) funding: a) maintains continuous communication with the shelters, collects, controls and verifies the data of the shelters to update the ministry’s Integrated Information System (Ολοκληρωμένο Πληροφοριακό Σύστημα) and b) collaborates closely with Human Resources Department (HR) to register all employees and provide corresponding updates to the AMIF funding framework
- Works together closely with the Finance department to complete payment procedures, especially those related to public financing programs
Communication
- Evaluates and responds to all emails and requests that regard volunteering, employment, internships, partnerships, etc
- Monitors THP’s central info email
- Collaborates closely with the CDO to draft letters and create presentations and communication materials
- Maintains and establishes partnerships
Community Building
- Upon consultation with the CDO organizes community building initiatives and coordinates all parties involved
- In cooperation with the Child Protection Unit (CPU) and the Development Unit assists guests and drafts letters to gain access to museums, recreational areas, theaters, campsites, ao
- Maintains continuous communication with partners for joint activities to foster relationships
- Liaises with relevant authorities for permits and space allocation
- Coordinates and sets up spaces (food, power, sound, etc) before and during events
Reporting
- Provides regular updates and reports to the COO on program outcomes and impact evaluation
- Is directly responsible for compiling and delivering reports to donors regarding their funds with support from CDO
Risk, Compliance & Ethical Standards:
- Ensures that all programs, activities and events comply with laws, regulations and THP’s ethical standards
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field
- A Master's degree in a related field can be advantageous
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience of at least 3 years in a similar position preferably within the NGO sector
